How To Overcome Indecision And Take Your Power Back
How to overcome indecision and take your power back
Our decisions determine our destiny. When we come to a fork in the road, we either turn left, turn right, or stop in our tracks. That means that we are actually making a decision NO MATTER WHAT - even when we decide to stand still and do nothing.
I'll go even further to say that indecision is actually a form of self-abuse. Freezing in your tracks and doing nothing is the ultimate form of giving away your power. When you give away your power, your life is no longer yours. You no longer have a say in what happens to you and you subject yourself to the whims and desires of other people.
Keep reading to learn how indecision tends to show up in our lives, and what to do about it.
1. Being Stuck
When you're stuck you avoid choosing a direction due to fear of the unknown, or lack of knowledge on how to take the next step. If lack of knowledge is what's keeping you stuck, brainstorm on how you can get the knowledge you need.
Will taking a class help? Researching online? Asking someone who's been in our situation before for their expertise. Gather the knowledge you need and make a decision.
2. Running on autopilot
Autopilot often feels like the "safe" thing to do. You are comfortable, you know what's expected, and you generally get the same outcome every time. But that's the problem - you get the SAME OUTCOME. You don't improve or make any progress toward your dreams and goals because you are stuck on the same path. Walking the same path will get you tot he same place each and every time. Only when you DECIDE to take a different path will you get to a different place.
I challenge you to take back your power by DOING something. Choose a path on that fork in the road and see where it takes you. If it's not the best path, you will have learned some valuable lessons along the way that you can use to your advantage for the rest of your life. On the other hand, if it turns out to be the best path, you will have allowed yourself the opportunity to experience something AMAZING that brings positive things into your life.
Making a choice and acting on it is the most powerful thing you can do for yourself. It makes YOU the captain of your ship instead of listing back and forth aimlessly on the ocean of life.
Yes, stepping into your power and out of your comfort zone is scary, but in order to get the best out of life you must bravely push forward. Contrary to popular belief, bravery doesn't mean that you aren't scared. Bravery means that you're scared, but you do it anyway.
What specific steps are you going to take in order to take back your power and make decisions in your life?
