15-Minute Mompreneur Morning Routine

I’m SO not a morning person. When left to my own devices, I’m a night owl at heart with the biorhythms of a teenager. Alas, I must “adult”, which calls for starting my day at 6:30 am  regardless of the hour I decided to go to bed the night before. 

As a work-from-home mompreneur, I welcome any and all help available to me in order to get my head in the game for the day. While I LOVE coffee and caffeine is my jam, it doesn’t have the “sticking” power throughout the day that a short, but intense workout does. Keep reading for my complete 15-minute mompreneur morning routine that sets me up for success.

THE WORKOUT

So what, exactly, do I mean by a short, but intense morning workout? I’m referring to 10-15 minutes of heart-pounding, sweat-inducing bodyweight cardio movements done at the highest intensity you can muster. Some refer to this type of exercise as high-intensity training (HIT). Regardless of what you want to call it, it yields amazing results. Not only does it wake me up without the aid of coffee, but it makes my body feel amazing! 

After pushing as hard as possible through those 15 demanding minutes, I always end up feeling clear-headed, exhilarated, and ready to tackle the day ahead. This is my favorite form of meditation. When I’m pushing my body to its max, there’s no space for overthinking, lamenting about the past, or worrying about the future. There’s only me, my music, and the movements. 

THE BENEFITS

After completing each workout I feel stronger and more motivated than ever to do it again the following day. After all, it’s only a few short minutes to the promised land. The sense of accomplishment I feel after completing my morning cardio translates into everything else in my life. I feel empowered, confident, and capable of handling whatever the day has in store for me. 

Pushing myself in this way improves not only my cardiovascular system and physique, but it strengthens my mental fortitude and resolve. I wholeheartedly believe that a stronger body coupled with a stronger mind equals someone who is unstoppable!

MY METHOD

First thing's first: I make sure to drink a 16-ounce glass of water as soon as I get up. This habit helps keep me hydrated and gives my body a gentle nudge to get moving. Before I dive head-first into my HIT workout, I like to take a short walk to loosen up my body. I use this time to walk my dog and listen to uplifting music or a good podcast. When I return from my walk, I grab another tall glass of water and head to my basement to sweat it out for the next 10-15 minutes. Voila! I’m ready to shower and start my day in less than an hour!
